The latest publication from Ponc Press is Carraig an Ghiorria, The Hare’s Rock. It tells the story of a bet made by Fionn Mac Cumhaill while he was on staycation in Rathinannane Castle, as to whether his hounds Bran and Sceolaing could catch the elusive great white hare of Dunquin.
The Irish version was written down by local teacher and storyteller Mícheál ó Dúbhshláine, who used to tell the tale to visitors and local children. Originally printed in Irish and German, it has been reproduced by Ponc Press in Irish and English in a beautiful fold -out format with accordion pleats and stunning illustrations by Bob Ó Catháíl. Measuring 10 cm by 21 cm the booklet is hand typeset and printed on art paper, with hard covers and a stylish envelope in a limited edition of 200. It is the first in a projected series of similar editions featuring tales from Corca Dhuibhne.
